Games Designer

Jagex Ltd, the UK’s largest developer and publisher of online games, is looking for an exceptional individual to design and support highly playable, and highly reliable games for launch through our browser based gaming service.

Reporting to the Executive Producer and working closely with the key project stakeholders, the successful candidate will provide creative direction and be responsible for the games overall concept and design. They shall therefore oversee each games development into a full commercial product.

Key Duties Include:

• Ensure solid design and robust documentation on all game projects;
• Continual creation of innovative game designs and concepts;
• Provide ongoing support for the development teams on design matters;
• Provide a strong technical understanding of game design elements;
• Liaise and work closely with all departments involved in the game production process;
• Ensure that all current commercial aims of each product are realised at the design stage;
• Creation and maintenance of internal documentation in line with company design processes;
• Continue to improve the design processes, contributing new ideas and implementing them effectively.

Essential Requirements:

• Ability to passionately project design concepts to ensure game vision and consistency throughout the development cycle;
• Ability to design core systems and game mechanics;
• Strong skills in level design and balancing;
• Proven track record as a Lead Designer or Senior Designer within the games industry.

Desirable Requirements:

• MMO or Social Networking game design experience.

Salary:

Location:
Cambridge. Candidates must be able to work in Cambridge or relocate if offered the position. Interviews will be held at the Cambridge office.
